Should you treat all kinds if fever?
Fever has some beneficial effects in the body. It increases the bactericidal and phagocytic
activity of neutrophils; cytotoxic effects of lymphocytes are also increased. So, always
think before initiating the treatment of fever. However, the following conditions
associated with fever should always be treated as soon as possible e.g.,
In infants and children
In pregnant women
With co-morbidities like diabetes mellitus, hepatic or renal dysfunction
Prolonged fever for >7 days
High rise of temperature (e.g., >102° F).
