MRSA SKIN INFECTIONS
1. Incision and drainage and culture and sensitivity of purulent material essential.
2. Trimethoprim + sulfamethoxazole DS (Bactrim DS, Septra DS):
1–2 tabs bid for 7–10 days.
3. Clindamycin (Cleocin): 300–600 mg qid for 7–10 days. Cover anaerobe overgrowth with metronidazole (Flagyl): 500 mg tid.
4. In resistant cases consult an infectious disease specialist.
