The investigation may include full blood count, ESR, CRP, pulse oximetry and chest x ray.
The common symptoms and signs of bacterial pneumonia are tachypnea, fever and cough.
The treatment may include supportive therapy and antibiotics. Pneumococcus pneumonia should be treated with cephalosporin or amoxicillin. IV ampicillin or IV cephalosporin is considered in hospitalized patient while vancomycin and clindamycin are considered in severe cases.
