Duodenal Atresia
Patient with duodneal atresia may present with distention of the epigastrium / stomach with billous emesis.
The distention of the stomach and proximal duodenum giving the indication of double bubble sign.
The risk factors for developing duodenal atresia may include history of maternal polyhydramnios, trisomy 21 and prematurity.
Duodenal atresia is diagnosed by ultrasound prenatally. Duodenal atresia is also associated with renal anomalies, cardiac anomalies, esophageal atresia and intestinal atresia.
The treatment of duodenal atresia include surgical removal of the obstruction.
