Surgery Definition – How to perform closed ( blind) induction ( Veress needle)?
The closed ( blind ) induction ( Veress needle ) is performed when a hollow Veress needle with a spring loaded obturator which cover the sharp needle once the insertion of peritoneal cavity is established. The Veress needle is inserted bleow the umbilicus through all the layers of the abdomen. This is followed later by inducing the pneumoperitoneum cia the insufflation of the carbon dioxide.
