THORACIC OUTLET SYNDROME
1. Isotonic and isometric shoulder shrugs to increase power in trapezius muscles.
2. Figure of 8 splint may be tried to limit pressure on brachial plexus during waking hours.
3. Enlist help of physiotherapy with muscle stimulation, shoulder exercise, and other modalities 3 times a week for 12 weeks.
4. NSAIDs such as naproxen (Naprosyn) 500 mg bid–tid to relieve pain.
5. Relieve neuropathic pain with anticonvulsants.
6. In persistent cases, consult a thoracic surgeon.
