Symptom Finder - Treatment of Hiccups
Hiccups (Most cases of hiccups are related to
gastroesophageal reflux)
1. Lidocaine Viscus (Xylocaine): 1–2 teaspoons stat p.o., and may
repeat in 10 minutes.
2. Bismuth subsalicylate (Pepto-Bismol): 15–30 mL stat p.o., and
may repeat in 10–15 minutes.
3. Chlorpromazine (Thorazine): 25–50 mg IM/IV stat and q6hrs PRN.
4. Haloperidol (Haldol): 2–10 mg IM.
