Viral Croup
Viral croup may be detected with the lateral neck radiography presented with subglottic narrowing or steeple sign. There will be a prodrome of upper respiratory infection symptoms.
The common causes of viral croup include influenza virus, para influenza virus and adenovirus.
Patient may complain of stridor, low grade fever, barking cough and stridor ( worse cases).
The treatment of viral croup include oral rehydration,glucocorticoids ( dexamethasone), nebulized epinephrine, supplemental oxygen and supportive therapy.
The differential diagnosis of viral croup are foreign body obstruction or epiglottitis.
