The treatment focus on stabilizing the patient and consider airway, breathing and circulation assessment. The treatment then proceeds with treating underlying pathology. The treatment can be performed surgically or non surgically. Surgical exploration is vital in cases of patient with unstable or critical major closed renal injuries or penetrating gunshot or stab wounds with high grade of trauma to the renal. Surgical exploration may also consider for late complication of renal injury such as chronic pyelonephritis, hydronephrosis and AV fistula.
The non surgical treatment may include analgesia, resting, prophylactic antibiotic and series of reassessment of the patient’s condition.
