Bronchiectasis
Bronchiectasis is associated with cystic fibrosis, primary ciliary dyskinesia, hypogammaglobulinemia, measles, tuberculosis, whooping cough and obstruction of the airway.
Patient who suffer from bronchiectasis may complain of shortness of breath and cough as well as sputum. Observe the sputum pot for identification. The fingers of the patient shows a sign of clubbing. Patient appears cyanotic. On auscultation the patient may present with coarse inspiratory crackles over the area of bronchiectasis. Patient may also present with wheeze. The common complication of bronchiectasis is cor pulmonale.
Chest x ray may show the signs of tramline and ring shadows. The treatment of bronchiectasis may include postural drainage, surgery and antibiotics for infection.
