LACTOSE INTOLERANCE
1. Eliminate milk and milk products. This not only includes milk and ice cream but yogurt, cheese, butter, and milk chocolate.
2. Several milk substitutes are available (nondairy creamer, soy bean milk, etc.) plus lactose-free milk.
3. Calcium and vitamin D supplements may be added.
4. Lactose eliminating tablets (Lactaid) may be taken prior to ingesting milk and milk products, but this is not really necessary with all the commercially available substitutes.
