The indications of stoma include exteriorization such as colostomy and ileostomy, feeding such as during post surgery or due to any central nervous disorder in the form of jejunostomy and gastrostomy, diversion following trauma to the duodenum in the form of colostomy and ileostomy, decompression due to gross case of bowel obstruction in the form of caecostomy and lavage in the form of caecostomy / on table bowel preparation before distal colonic surgery.
