Diamond - Blackfan Anemia
Diamond Blackfan anemia is also called as congenital hypoplastic anemia.
The symptoms and signs of Diamond - Blackfan anemia may include splenomegaly, jaundice, pallor and abnormalities of the thumbs, face and head.
Laboratory investigation may reveal reticulocytopenia, macrocytic anemia, decreased in neutrophils, abnormalities in platelet count, increased in fetal hemoglobin, present of “I” red blood cell antigen and elevated red blood cell adenosine deaminase.
The treatment of Diamond Blackfan anemia may include corticosteroids, transfusion therapy and bone marrow transplantation.
The transfusion therapy may lead to hemosiderosis complication.
The differential diagnosis of Diamond - Blackfan anemia may include transient erythroblastopenia anemia.
