Surgery Definition - What is Hypervolemic Hyponatremia?
Hypervolemic hyponatremia is caused by congestive cardiac failure, liver failure, in excess of intravenous fluid and renal failure. Hypervolemic hyponatremia is caused when the volume of the blood increase while the concentration of the sodium remain constant. The treatment of hypervolemic hyponatremia may include diuretics and restriction of fluid intake.
