Cryptorchidism
Cryptorchidism is presented as undescended testes in newborns at birth mostly in premature infants.
The differential diagnosis of cryptorchidism are missing testes as a result of torsion or agenesis or cremasteric reflex related to pseudocryptochidism. Congenital adrenal hyperplasia may present as bilateral undescended testes which lead to requirement for futher test.
The investigation for cryptorchidism may include ultrasound.
The treatment may include surgical orchidopexy. However, 50% of testes may be descended by three months.
The complication of cryptorchidism may include malignancy, inguinal hernia and inferitlity if the testes are not in the scortum.
