Asthma
The common differential diagnosis of asthma may include aspiration, gastroesophageal reflux, cystic fibrosis, croup, foreign body, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, pneumonia and bronchiolitis, tracheobronchomalacia, sinusitis as well as bronchiolitis obliterans.
The common symptoms and signs of asthma are chest pain, chest discomfort, shortness of breath, coughing and wheezing.
The diagnostic test considered are pulmonary function test, chest x ray, allergy testing and bronchoscopy.
Generally the treatment of asthma may include corticosteroids, mast cell stabilizer, theophylline, leukotriene modifiers and bronchodilators.
