POST -CONCUSSION SYNDROME
1. For headaches and neck pain prescribe naproxen (Naprosyn) 500 mg bid–tid or other NSAIDs
2. If these are not effective, add muscle relaxant such as cyclobenzaprine (Flexeril) 5–10 mg tid. Other muscle relaxant may be tried.
3. A course of corticosteroids such as prednisone 40–60 mg daily for
2–3 weeks and taper over additional 4 weeks may be worthwhile.
4. In persistent cases, make a referral to a psychiatrist, neurologist, or pain management specialist.
