Ulnar Nerve Palsy
Ulnar nerve palsy is caused by trauma, fracture or minor injury to the elbow. Mononeuritis multiplex due to SLE, rheumatoid arthritis and diabetes may also lead to ulnar nerve palsy.
Ulnar nerve palsy is presented with wasting, weakness and reduction in the tone of the muscle of the hand. The muscle affected are small muscles of the hand such as the ulnar half of the flexor digitorum profundus and flexor carpi ulnaris. Patient may also present with claw hand. There will be reduction in the sensation in the little finger and medial half of the ring finger. There will also be hyperextension of the metacarpophalangeal joint and interphalangeal joint.
