Nitrous oxide is a form of inhalation agent which is useful for induction and maintenance of anesthesia. However, nitrous oxide works slower in comparison with IV agent. Nitrous oxide is a sweet smelling non irritant gas. Nitrous oxide is an excellent analgesic but is not a good anesthetic. Nitrous oxide is administered with other anesthetic agents. Nitrous oxide is administered with 70 to 30 ratio with oxygen. Continuous used of nitrous oxide will decrease the of other inhaled anesthetics.
