Symptom Finder - Treatment of Urinary Tract Infection
URINARY TRACT INFECTION
1. Get urine culture and sensitivity and colony count.
2. Force fluids if possible.
3. Trimethoprim + sulfamethoxazole DS (Bactrim DS or Septra DS) 1 tab bid for 7–10 days.
4. Phenazopyridine (Pyridium) 100–200 mg tid for dysuria.
5. Consult urologist if infection recurs or persists for full urologic workup.
