Erythema Multiforme
Erythema multiforme may present as papules which progress into dark center which develop later into target lesions and central bluish discoloration with 3 concentric layers of color change. Lesion will reslove within 10 to 14 days.
Erythema multiforme is an acute inflammatory disease. The risk factors of developing erythema multiforme include herpes simplex virus infection, mycoplasma infection and drug such as sulfonamide.
The treatment of erythema multiforme may focus on the oral antihistamines and cool compression for pruritus. Treatment should also focus on removing precipitating factors such as removal of offending drugs or considering prophylactic oral acyclovir.
The differential diagnosis of erythema multiforme may inlcude urticaria or Steven Johnson Syndrome.
