Testicular Sex Cord - Gonadal Stroma Tumors
Testicular sex cord gonadal stroma tumor is a benign tumor which arises from the sex cord stroma. Patient may typically present with gynecomastia in adult, precocious puberty in children and swelling of the testicles.
There are two forms of testicular sex cord gonadal stroma which may include Leydig cell tumor and Sertoli cell tumor. Leydig cell tumor is common with the present of intracytoplasmic Reinke crystal. Reinke crystal consists of rod shaped crystalloid. Leydig cell tumor may present as yellow brown nodule. Leydig cell tumor may include polygonal cells, round nucleus and eosinophilic cytoplasm. Leydig cell tumor may secrets estrogens and androgens.
Sertoli cell tumor consists of nodules firm in nature which composed of tumor cell which form cord in a similar fashion as seminiferous tubules.
The common treatment may include radical inguinal orchectomy, radiotherapy and chemotherapy.
