​Surgery Definition – How to treat umbilical hernia? 
Umbilical hernia can be treated surgically. It can either be Mesh repair or Mayo repair. In Mesh repair the hernia is reduced and excision of the sac is performed. Prolene mesh is applied to close the defect. In Mayo repair the hernia is reduced and excision of the sac is performed. Later, the edges that have been cut will be overlapped and sutured together with prolene.
