Polio
Patient may present with asymmetrical nature which differentiate polio from Guillain Barre Syndrome. Patient with history of polio may present with asymmetrical shortened wasted limb. Children with polio may suffer from failure of growth of the limbs. The tone and power of the affected limb will be reduced and reflexes will be absent. The respiratory muscle is also affected and the patient may required ventilation support.
Polio /poliomyelitis occur as gastrointestinal infection which progress and affects the motor neurons of the cranial nerves and anterior horn cells.
