URTICARIA
1. Diphenhydramine (Benadryl): 25–50 mg p.o. qid.
2. Other antihistamines may be tried
3. Cimetidine (Tagamet): 400 mg bid or other H2 blockers:
4. Prednisone: 40–60 mg daily for 7 days and then taper.
5. Refer persistent cases to an allergist for skin testing or order blood test for allergens.
6. An elimination diet may be tried.
