Surgery Definition - What is pulmonary capillary wedge pressure?
Pulmonary capillary wedge pressure is measured via cardiac catheterisation with the normal value within the range of 5 -13mmHg. Pulmonary capillary wedge pressure is a measurement of the end diastolic volume of the heart. Pulmonary capillary wedge pressure is measurement of the preload. The preload will increase in the case of congestive cardiac failure due to reduction in the contraction which result in less blood is pumped out per contraction.
