RESTLESS LEG SYNDROME
1. Thorough workup including CBC, serum ferritin, complete metabolic panel ankle–brachial index, and nerve conduction studies to exclude anemia, peripheral neuropathy, vascular disease, etc.
2. Discontinue caffeinated beverages, smoking and alcohol.
3. Regular exercise such as walking ½ to 1 mile 3× a week.
4. Pramipexole 0.25–1 mg daily.
5. Other anti-Parkinson drugs may be tried.
6. Anticonvulsant agents may be tried
7. Benzodiazepines may also provide relief
8. Use narcotics as a last resort but it is wise to consult a neurologist or psychiatrist before initiating these drugs.
