The differential diagnosis of alveolar shadows / the causes of alveolar shadows are :

-fluid due to pulmonary edema
-cells due to alveolar cell carcinoma or lymphangitis carcinomatosis
-blood due to pulmonary hemorrhage
-pus due to consolidation
