Venepuncture ( Vacuum Device)
The equipments require are collection bottle holder, vacuum container needle, sterile wipe, gloves, cotton wool balls, tape, tourniquet and collection bottle.
The procedure is similar to needle and syringe procedure. However there are a few exceptions. The vacutainer needle is a double ended needle. One end of the needle is covered b the rubber sheath. The rubber sheath needle will be inserted into the collection bottle holder. The other end is the standard needle.
After the needle in place, the collection bottles are placed into the holder with the rubber sheathed needle. The collection bottles will be filled by itself. There is no flashback of the blood as the needle penetrating the vein.
Finally the tourniquet is removed. This is follow by removing the last collection bottle and the standard needle is remove from the skin.
