Dental Abscess
Dental abscess may present with raised white blood cell and ESR.
The symptoms and signs of dental abscess may inlcude pain and infection associated with the advanced cases of caries. There will be fever, facial cellulitis, swelling of the localized area of the gingival tissue known as gumboil.
Patient complians of difficulty swallowing and breathing which may require hospitalization if airway compromise or dehydrate severely.
Tooth extraction is considered or consider root canal therapy.
Antibiotic treatment is considered with IV clindamycin.
The differential diagnosis of dental abscess are cellulitis or parotitits.
