Goodpasture syndrome
Good pasture syndrome is a type II hypersensitivity reaction. Good pasture syndrome mostly due to antibodies reaction against the glomerular basement membrane.
Good pasture syndrome may affect the lung and the kidney. Patient with good pasture syndrome may complain of nephritic syndrome and hemoptysis.
Good pasture syndrome may present with crescentic glomerulonephritis. In this case, there will be a compression of the glomerular capillaries and destruction of the Bowman’s capsule.There will be crescents formation due to coalesce of the fibrin, parietal cells and macrophages. Good pasture syndrome may also present with hemosiderin laden macrophages in alveoli, septa fibrosis thickening and hemorrhage of the intra alveolar.
Laboratory investigations may reveal the present of anti - glomerular basement membrane antibodies and linear deposits of immunoglobulin in the glomerular basement membranes and alveolar.
The treatment of Goodpasture syndrome may include corticosteroids and plasma exchange.
