Development Dysplasia of The Hip
The common causes of development dysplasia of the hip are positive family history or breech.
There are two test for detecting the development dysplasia of the hip which include the Ortolani anterior force and Barlow posterior force.
Ortolani anterior force may reveal as feeling of slipping due to relocation of the acetabular head in case of development dysplasia of the hip.
Trendelenburg sign of swaying gait is presented as the late sign of development dysplasia of the hip.
Ultrasound may be considered for more than 1 month of age. Ultrasound is required in case of girl with breech position.
The treatments of development dysplasia of the hip are Pavlik harness or preoperative traction for 2 weeks which later follow with reduction and hip spica casting.
The differential diagnosis of development dysplasia of the hip are infection, subluxable of the acetabular head, acetabular dysplasia and dislocation as well as spastic hip dislocation due to brain injury.
