The differential diagnosis of raised amylase / causes of raised amylase are :
- acute pancreatitis 
-renal failure 
-diabetic ketoacidosis
-salivary gland disorder  such as mumps or calculi
-peptic ulcer 
-ruptured of ectopic pregnancy
-intestinal obstruction 
-perforation
-macroamylasaemia ( amylase which complexed with another protein) 
-opiates ( which lead to spasm of sphincter of Oddi and raised amylase).
