SINUSITIS, CHRONIC
1. Stop smoking.
2. Phenylephedrine (Sudafed): 60 mg qid.
3. Cetirizine (Zyrtec): 5–10 mg daily.
4. Other antihistamines may be effective
5. Cool air humidification at night with Breathe Right strips.
6. Beclomethasone nasal spray (Beconase AQ): 1–2 sprays in each nostril daily.
7. Other corticosteroid nasal sprays may be effective such as fluticasone (Flonase), etc.
8. If bacterial infection considered possible, prescribe amoxicillin + clavulanate (Augmentin) 875/125 q12hrs or cefaclor (Ceclor) 500 mg tid.
9. In persistent cases, consult an otolaryngologist.
