FROZEN SHOULDER
1. First try injecting the subacromial bursa with 3 cc of 1–2% lidocaine and 40–60 mg of methylprednisolone acetate (Depo- Medrol).
2. If above unsuccessful, inject glenohumeral joint with 3–4 cc of lidocaine (Xylocaine) 1–2% and 40–80 mg of methylprednisolone acetate (Depo-Medrol). Manipulate joint while local anesthetic is still effective.
3. Finally, before referral to orthopedic surgeon, try prednisone 40– 60 mg daily for 2–3 weeks and gradually taper.
4. Refer to orthopedic surgeon for manipulation under general anesthesia or other surgical procedure.
