Pharmacology definition - Flutamide

Flutamide
Flutamide is useful in treating patient with prostate cancer. Flutamide will act as competitive antagonist to the androgen receptors. The binding of flutamide will reduce the level of testosterone in the prostate. Reduce level of testosterone will stimulate an increase in the secretion of serum LH level. Raised LH level can be reduced by administrating leuprolide.
The common side effects of flutamide may include abnormalities of the liver function test, gastrointestinal discomfort and gynecomastia.
