Surgery Definition – How C spine control is considered in advanced traumatic life support?
Fracture of the C spine should be considered in every patient that involves in any cases of trauma until steps to exclude it is considered by clinical and radiological method.
C- spine is controlled by applying C spine hard collar which able to reduce any movement voluntarily or based on the bilateral sandbags or struts which are taped across the bed with the aim to put the hard collar in a position that is fixed. Suboptimal immobilization is only considered in cases of agitated patient by splinting the C spine.
C spine is managed by radiological evaluation. Lateral C spine, AP view and open mouth or odontoid peg view are considered. Lateral C spine need to include all seven cervical vertebrae and the C7 to T1 junction.
