The gallstones will cause the back up of the bile in the gallbladder. However, the bile drainage is still possible from the liver through the common bile duct. This condition will lead to the irritation of the wall and lead to the formation of chemical cholecystitis and later lead to bacterial cholecystitis due to superinfection.
