Mallory Weiss Syndrome is tears which is longitudinal in nature in the mucosa and submucosa of the esophagus and usually caused by forceful retching mostly found in drinking binge.
Mallory Weiss Syndrome may present with dysphagia, odynophagia, retrosternal pain and hematemesis. Mallory Weiss Syndrome may be diagnosed with esophagoscopy and the treatment of Mallory Weiss Synsrome may include room temperature water lavage. However, tamponade with Minnesota Sengstaken tube may worsen the bleeding.
