Saphena varis is a varicosity of the saphenous vein as the saphenous vein joins the femoral vein which lead to the formation of the compressible blue swelling in the groin. There will be a cough impulse and palpable thrill on coughing which is known as Cruveilhier’s sign which disappears on lying down.
