Peritoneal dialysis is a form of renal replacement therapy. Peritoneal dialysis involves the exchange of fluid via catheter inserted into the peritoneal cavity. Peritoneal dialysis is less effective in at clearing the solutes. Besides that, an increased in the intra abdominal volume may splint the diaphragm which lead to respiratory difficulties. Peritoenal dialysis should be avoided in patient with abdominal pathology.
