The common causes of breast abscess may include infection by staphylococcus aureus or actinomycosis, tuberculosis and syphilis. The treatment of breast abscess may include needle aspiration and consider using ultrasound scan guidance if the abscess is within the tissue of the breast. Flucloxacillin is a form of antibiotic considered. Incision and drainage is only considered if the patient is unresponsive to above treatment and become systemically unwell. Underlying causes such as carcinoma may also be considered which require triple assessment. Non lactating woman is also predisposed to breast abscess.
