Anaphylaxis is a condition which is caused by exposure to to a substance ( latex, peanuts, bee or wasp sting) which the body become intensely sensitised. Patient presents with symptoms and signs such as nausea, vomiting, itching, flushing, swelling of the mouth and tongue as well as airway.There will be drop in blood pressure, wheezing.In worst case scenario, sudden death may occur.
The treatments for anaphylaxis in emergency setting include administration of oxygen with advanced support, injection of adrenaline/ epinephrine, intravenous corticosteroids, intravenous fluids and antihistamines.
