Amniotic fluid is a fluid which contained in the amniotic cavity. Amniotic fluid will surround the fetus and protect the fetus from external pressure. The amniotic fluid will be secreted from the amnion and is supplemented by urine from the fetal kidneys later. The amniotic fluid will be swallowed by the fetus and absorbed through the intestine. The volume of amniotic fluid will be varied according to the period of gestation.
