Allele or allelomorph is one of the form or more of the alternative types of gene which only one of them may be presented on the chromosome. Two allele referring to a particular gene may line at the same relative position on a pair of the homologous chromosome. When two of the alleles are the same the individual is homozygous for the gene and if the two alleles are different the individual is heterozygous for the genes.
