Adjuvant therapy is an additional treatment given after the primary therapy in the form of surgical removal of the malignant tissue. Adjuvant therapy focus on reducing the rates of future recurrence based on the stage of the tumour or histology. The main aim is to destroy the microscopic tumor cells based local therapy such as adjuvant breast irradiation after surgery to conserve the breast or systematic therapy in the form of chemotherapy especially in the patient who suffers from colorectal cancer or even breast cancer.
