Aciclovir ( or the trade name Zovirax) is an anti viral drug which inhibits synthesis of DNA in cells which is infected by the action of herpesviruses. Aciclcovir is administered orally, intravenously or topically and useful in treating herpes zoster, herpes simplex, herpes encephalitis and herpetic eye disease. Aciclovir is useful for patient where the immune system is compromised.
