Angelica
Angelica or Angelica archangelia fall under the family of Apiaceae. It is also known as garden angelica, European Angelica and A..officinalis. Angelica is mostly found in the Europe and Siberia. There are 30 different species of angelica but this one mentioned here is mostly used for medicinal purpose.
Angelica is characterized by large hairy plant with ferny leaves and umbels of white flower.
Traditionally, angelica is useful in improving the immune and circulatory system and strengthening the heart. Beside that, it had been useful for treating respiratory condition such as cough or cold as well as any case of indigestion or tummy upset. Angelica can stimulate our appetite.
Angelica may be used to treat any female related disorder and stimulating fertility. Angelica may also be useful in treating cystitis and inflammation of the joints (rheumatism).
In general, Angelica is useful as diaphoretic, stimulants, carminatives, expectorants, digestive, diuretic and fungicidal and bactericidal properties.

The primary ingredient of Angelica’s oil include pinene, limonene, phellandrene, borncol, linalool, angelicin, imperatorin, bergapten and osthol.
The essential oil of Angelica extracted from the root may have phototoxic characteristic due to higher level of bergapten. Should be avoided by diabetic and pregnant woman.
