Medical Dictionary - The Definition of Analgesic Nephropathy
It is a condition associated with chronic use of mixture of analgesic preparations which leads to the disease of the tubulointerstitium of the kidney. It is associated with the use of paracetamol, phenacetin and salicylates. Analgesic nephropathy may lead to bilateral atrophy of the kidney and chronic renal failure. The clinical manifestation may inlcude impaired concentration of the urine and acidification of the urine due to the impairment of the tubular function.
