Perinephric abscess is caused by Proteus and E.coli. Perinephric abscess is a form of renal abscess which is retroperitoneal. Perinephric abscess occurs as a result of pyelonephritis which occurring in a kidney that contain staghorn calculus. Staghorn calculus is a calculus which is large and forming a cast of all the renal calyces. The pus cannot be drained and discharged through the renal capsule into the perinephric space. The abscess may point towards the region of the flank. The treatment of perinephric abscess may include incision and drainage and nephrectomy.
